Pianist Corey Hamm has commissioned, premiered, and recorded over four hundred works from composers from all over the world. His recording of Frederic Rzewskis epic The People United Will Never Be Defeated! prompted Rzewski himself to write "Excellent! Maybe the best recording!", and won both Spotify's and WCMA's Best Classical Recording 2014. He is Professor of Piano at UBC where he won both the prestigious Killam Award for Teaching Excellence, and the Dorothy Somerset Award for Artistic Excellence. Dr. Hamm's students have won numerous First Prizes in international competitions (Hilton Head, Maria Canals), national competitions (Stepping Stones, Shean, CMC, National Music Competition), local competitions (VWMS, numerous concerto competitions), and have been accepted to such institutions as Juilliard, NYU, Mannes, UofT, Royal Academy, Eastman, Glenn Gould School, San Francisco Conservatory, McGill, NEC, among many others. Recent and upcoming performances include Ligeti Piano Concerto, Prokofiev Piano Concerto 3, Dorothy Chang double concerto Gateways, Bartok Piano Concerto 2, Barber Piano Concerto. He is on the Piano Faculty of the Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice (SICPP), MusicFest Perugia.
